YouTubeKeep.com Redesign

January 30th, 2009 No comments

When I originally put YouTubeKeep.com together (well back then, it was TubeKeep.net), I never intended to launch it looking the way it did. The layout was just so I could test the script. But the design got delayed and delayed, so the website stayed looking the way it did for WAY TOO LONG!

I think the new design makes it much easier to use. The ads blend in a lot less, which makes it look a lot cleaner.

That’s about all.

Check it out and let me know what you think!

ScrapeVideo.com Launched

January 28th, 2009 No comments

Just wanted to quickly mention that ScrapeVideo.com is now active and ready to use! (It’s a Video Search engine.)

Scrape Video searches all the most popular video sharing and news websites, thanks to Truveo (that means it is using their database).

What’s the point you ask? Use Scrape Video, then use Truveo. Scrape Video’s layout is much like that of Google, whereas Truveo is quite busy (cluttered). It’s good if you’re planning to browse aimlessly, but its search could do with some improvements.

If you do choose to check it out (that’s ScrapeVideo.com, just in case you forgot), please send me some feedback. Especially if you find something that doesn’t work correctly.

Why are they important?

Google and other search engines use the number of backlinks asĀ  one of the more important factors for determining your website’s search engine rank. What’s even more important than the number is the quality of the sites linking to you.

Search Engines Don’t See Like You or I

January 22nd, 2009 No comments

One thing that a lot of people probably don’t realise is, that search engines don’t see a website the same as you or I. They don’t see any images, they don’t see colour, so they don’t judge your website on how good it looks. They see a text version of you site with all the prettiness stripped out of it. So you need to consider this when designing your website. No one’s going to be able to find your pretty website if search engine bots can’t read it.
